Hello, I am Dr. Jennifer Palmer

I've spent over 20 years working as a GP in the NHS, but my approach to health has evolved significantly over that time.

Born and raised in Canada, I graduated from the University of Toronto in 2000 with a medical degree and completed my family medicine residency in Thunder Bay, Ontario. I then moved to the UK in 2002 and have called the East Midlands home ever since where I live with my husband, son and very lively dog.

My Personal Journey

Seven years ago, everything changed when I developed moderate hearing loss and tinnitus. Suddenly, I wasn't just treating these conditions – I was living with them. This experience opened my eyes to how challenging it can be to manage ongoing health issues and inspired me to look beyond traditional medicine for answers.

In 2022, I completed my Lifestyle Medicine diploma and have since trained in CBT for insomnia and health coaching. This combination of medical knowledge, personal experience, and coaching skills allows me to support you in a truly unique way.

When I'm not working, you'll find me singing in my local choir, trying out new baking recipes, or learning another language. I enjoy being outdoors and in nature and I run and do yoga regularly. I believe that healthy living goes hand in hand with physical and mental wellbeing.

As your health coach, I bring my medical background to our sessions, but there are important boundaries to understand:

  • I am not acting as your GP during coaching sessions

  • I do not provide diagnoses or prescriptions in my coaching role

  • I focus on lifestyle medicine principles to help you manage your health naturally

Think of me as your knowledgeable guide who understands both the medical and human side of health challenges. I can give you time to explore your health goals and coach you towards making changes to achieve those goals.
